Inaugurated in March 2021, GRACIE BARRA – PIEDADE/PE's purpose is to spread Jiu-Jitsu to everyone in its local area, bringing the knowledge of the gentle art to all. Currently, the GRACIE BARRA PIEDADE school is a reference for CHILDREN'S and ADULT classes using the worldwide GB methodology. Professor Leeds Ponsoni, a 3rd-degree black belt under Master Carlos Gracie Jr. with international experience in the USA and CANADA, is our Head Coach, providing an incredible and pleasant experience for old and new students.

After creating an ambitious project, a considerable financial investment, and about two months of construction, we inaugurated the climate-controlled school with showers and air conditioning, which is certainly one of the most beautiful and complete in the country. It earned the title of PREMIUM SCHOOL immediately after opening and became a reference within the state of Pernambuco and the Northeast.

Carlos Gracie Jr.

Master Carlos Gracie Jr., 8th degree red and white belt, is a man ahead of his time. The son of Grandmaster Carlos Gracie Sr., he used his unique visionary skills to create two of the largest and most important Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organizations: the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) and Gracie Barra. As the founder and current president of both institutions, he channeled his entrepreneurship to take our sport to the next level, allowing thousands of individuals on five continents to experience the ‘Gentle Art’ as students, instructors, or competitors.

Leeds Ponsoni

With international experience, he immersed himself in the world of Jiu-Jitsu in Canada and the United States, honing his techniques and knowledge. Now, he's back in Brazil, bringing with him an innovative methodology that captivates people of all ages, from children to adults, even those who have never had contact with martial arts.

What sets Leeds Ponsoni apart is his passion for teaching and sharing his knowledge. He chose to be a Jiu-Jitsu professor and found the Gracie Barra Piedade school, even though he had a solid career in the Information Technology field. His dedication and commitment to teaching are unparalleled.

On the mat, Professor Leeds Ponsoni is synonymous with calm and patience. He has a unique ability to convey techniques clearly and precisely, correcting his students with care and encouragement. He believes that everyone has the potential to evolve in the incredible game of chess that is Jiu-Jitsu, and he is determined to help each of his students reach their maximum performance.
